On 23 May 2017, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between National Development and Reform Commission (NDEC) of China and Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change (MEECC) of Seychelles in the presence of Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mme. Yu Jinsong and Minister Didier Dogley.
Under the Climate Change South-South initiative, the MoU consists two main projects: Curieuses Renewable and Solar Schools. China will help Seychelles build a low-carbon demonstration zone, including installation of solar photovoltaic panels in Curieuse Island and photovoltaic systems in 41 public schools.
The purpose of the MoU is to enhance the ability of Seychelles to deal with issues related to climate change and renewable energy. Ambassador Yu said the Embassy will give full support to follow up the projects.
