Chinese Community hold Mid-Autumn Gathering in Seychelles

On the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese Embassy and Seychelles Chinese Association co-hosted a party on September 22nd, over 100 people gathered at the Chinese Pagoda in downtown Victoria to have a bite of Moon cakes and celebrate this traditional festival.

In his speech, Ambassador Shi Zhongjun extended his sincerest Mid-autumn greetings and best wishes to the Chinese community here in Seychelles. Ambassador Shi pointed out, all the Chinese communities around the world are celebrating this one-of-the-oldest traditional festival. Though long years away overseas from China, the overseas Chinese are still deeply rooted in and bonded to the Chinese nation. They always have a heart for the Chinese culture and for the development of China. It is of significance to celebrate the traditional festival here in Chinese Pagoda, for it is a symbol of Chinese culture, a bond that connects the people in Chinese community.

 Ambassador Shi spoke highly of the achievements of Chinese community here in Seychelles. Through generations of hard work, the Chinese community has been widely recognized for its unity, diligence and wisdom, he said, it is no exaggeration to say that the Chinese community has made indelible contributions to the development of Seychelles.

   

Designated Minister Vincent Meriton and Culture&Tourism Minister Alain St. Ange have also come to the gathering and tasted various moon cakes with everyone else. The two ministers pointed out that Chinese society has actively joined the cultural melting-pot and the "rainbow society" of Seychelles, and has become an important force for economic, social and cultural development.

A bite of moon cakes, a memory of hometown, the Chinese Pagoda was flooded with laughter and cheers.
