The President of Seychelles and First Lady and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism visited the Chinese Embassy

On 30 April 2021, at the invitation of the Ambassador Guo Wei, the President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan and his spouse Linda Ramkalawan and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde visited the Chinese Embassy in Seychelles. Counsellor Guo Zhenguang and director of the Political Section Li Na attended the event. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on bilateral relations, especially cooperation in various fields.

Ambassador Guo expressed her appreciation and congratulations to the President Ramkalawan for the positive results achieved by Seychelles under the leadership of himself and the new government in the fight against the epidemic and in the economic recovery. Ambassador Guo reviewed China's extraordinary journey and the tremendous achievements made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the past 100 years. Ambassador Guo stressed that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Seychelles, and China is willing to continue to deepen the friendly cooperation in various fields with Seychelles and push bilateral relations to a new level. Ambassador Guo also introduced China's foreign policies such as its adherence to the path of peaceful development.

President Ramkalawan appreciated the great achievements made by China under the leadership of the CPC. The president and the Foreign Minister praised that China has rapidly contained the epidemic, taken the lead in resuming work and production and also participated actively in the global response to COVID-19, which played a important role in supporting the global COVID-19 fight and maintaining global economic stability. He expressed his appreciation to China's long-term valuable support for the economic and social development of Seychelles, especially China's important assistance to Seychelles during the epidemic. He reiterated that Seychelles, firmly upholding the one-China principle, is ready to continue to deepen the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields so as to strive for the greater development of Seychelles-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on epidemic prevention and control of Seychelles, regional and international hotspot issues.
