On 2nd June 2022, to mark the International Children's Day, the Chinese embassy in Seychelles donated a variety of gifts to the Glacis Primary school. The handing over ceremony took place at the Chinese embassy with the presence of Ms. Lina Pillay, the deputy head of the Glacis Primary school. The gifts include school bags, cups, Huawei bluetooth speakers, football, basketball, guitar, toys and books, etc.

The Chinese Ambassador H.E.Mrs. GUO Wei said,“In China children are often likened to flowers and they carry the hopes for our brighter tomorrow and the dreams of our future. Over the past years, the Chinese side has always been concerned about the development of Seychellois Children and the cooperation in this field is fruitful. Glacis primary school, which is funded by Chinese government, has well served as a symbol of China-Seychelles friendship. Since its handing over in 2016, we payed constant attention to its development by visiting it several times and celebrating festivals with the teachers and students. This year on the occasion of the Children’s Day, we hope these gifts will bring joy to the students and help them with their study. The Embassy will continue its support to the Glacis school. ”

Ms. Pillay thanked the generous donation as well as the constant support from the Chinese side during recent years. She believed the gifts would bring surprise and happiness to the students and welcomed the Ambassador to visit the School again.

The two sides have also exchanged views on the development of the school and the possibility of extending cooperation in the future, such as the opening of Chinese class.

The Glacis Primary School was founded by the government of the People's Republic of China and opened officially in 2016.
