On 25 April 2026, former Vice President of Seychelles, Chairperson of the Association for the Promotion of Friendship between Seychelles and China, Mr. Vincent Meriton, issued a statement solemnly reaffirming adherence to the one-China Principle. The Statement stressed that the one-China Principle constitutes the political foundation of diplomatic relations between Seychelles and China established 50 years ago, and has been consistently upheld by the Seychellois government.
