2017-05-21 14:23

On 18 May 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles H.E. Mme. Yu Jinsong attended the launching ceremony of partnership between China's largest global payment network Union Pay International (UPI) and Barclays Bank Seychelles. UPI card holders are now able to transact at Barclays' ATMs and Point of Sales (POS) machines across the country.

Mr. Johannes Van Schalkwyk, the managing director of Barclays Bank Seychelles, officially announced the new services.

Ambassador Yu congratulated Barclays Seychelles for the initiative. She said UPI is a card widely used in China and the decision to introduce such a card in Seychelles is a good one for the Chinese community living here and those visiting the country.

The ceremony included a demonstration of a transaction using the UPI card on a Barclays Seychelles machine.
